![]() “A twilight world of Dreamers and the magic of the gods” is how the author’s website begins to describe the story’s setting. Having just read the next book, Dreaming the Bull, I thought it a good time to write a bit about some aspects that drew me in. The first novel of Manda Scott’s Boudica: Dreaming tetralogy, Dreaming the Eagle begins the story of the Celtic warrior Breaca (known to most readers as Boudica), her family and her people in the face of Roman invasion. ![]() ![]() I knew it was going to be one of those books. Maybe a tad melodramatic, but that’s how I felt at the time when Dreaming the Eagle appeared before me, in my old school hall one evening at a talk by the author herself. Some books walk into my life as though my reading them is inevitable and necessary for the functioning of the universe. ![]()
